Hello and Welcome to Unearthing Wellbeing with me Ask Elizabeth, Where Our Greatest Wealth Is Health.

I had the pleasure of having Anabelle Smith on the podcast. Anabelle is a dual Olympian in the sport of diving. She is an Olympic bronze medallist, three-time Commonwealth Games bronze medalist and has been on the National team for 10 years. Anabelle is dedicated to being the best version of herself in sport, and in life and puts great passion into sharing her experiences with other people.

During my chat with Anabelle it was clear that she is very self- driven, passionate, kind and confident. Her purpose is to leave a positive legacy in Australian sport, and be an exceptional role model for the next generation. As this was recorded earlier in the year, Anabelle expressed her hopes for competing in the Tokyo Olympics.

Anabelle currently sits on the Olympians Club of Victoria Board, and is also helping to shape Australia’s sporting future on the inaugural AIS Athlete Advisory Committee. She is a recipient of the 2019 John Landy Scholarship through the Victorian Olympic Council, 2019 AMP 'Tomorrow Maker', 2017 sole Australian Olympian representative at the International Olympic Academy Youth Program in Greece, 2016 Victorian Institute of Sport ‘Spirit’ award winner, Sports Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship recipient 2008, and 9 x Diving Victoria Athlete of the year.

Aside from discussing her journey and career highlights, Anabelle spoke about some of her lowest points when she first moved to Brisbane on her own.

She told me how she had to make a conscious effort to ensure that the experiences she went through would not occur again. Anabelle noted that if it weren’t for them though, and hindsight, she wouldn’t have a repertoire of techniques at her disposal to assist her, and putting her wellbeing as her priority. Training smarter, not harder and implementing Wellness Wednesday’s, allows her to be at her prime both mentally and physically.

It was such a pleasure speaking with Annabelle, she was so lovely and compassionate.

To find out what unfolded, tune into this week's episode.

Topics covered: holistic health, discovery, self-care, burnout, olympics, olympian, diving, balance, sports science, wellbeing, purpose, kindness

Hello and Welcome to Unearthing Wellbeing with me Ask Elizabeth, Where Our Greatest Wealth Is Health.

These episodes were recorded shortly after COVID-19 lockdown eased in Melbourne, thus, the discussions surrounding the whirlwind experience, Christmas and 2020 in general were in mention.

This episode I had Motoring Journalist and Presenter Emma Notarfrancesco on the show. She has been on Aussie television screens for the last 10 years including: Sunrise; Channel Ten’s News; reporting for international soccer events; then covering the Supercars pitlane. Emma presented for Which Car’s automotive show, was a host and executive producer for Australian Superbikes, and reported for Australian Grands Prix, interviewing the likes of Daniel Ricciardo. Emma is also a proud ambassador for not-for-profit organisation ‘FIA Girls on Track.’

I definitely felt like I was speaking to a girlfriend and that is exemplary of how easy Emma is to talk to. She was so chill, passionate and inspiring! We spoke about how COVID-19 saw her close some doors and open new ones, whilst in the process being able to show her viewers the “real Emma” during her Legends In Lockdown segment. Although motorsports makes up a big portion of her identity and livelihood, we also explored how fashion, skin-care, checklists and family are pivotal in respects to who she is.

To find out what unfolded, tune into this week's episode.

Topics covered: racing, journalism, reporting, women in motorsports, skincare, self-care, burnout, careers, covid-19.

Welcome to Unearthing Wellbeing Podcast, Where Our Greatest Wealth Is Health.

For Episode 08 I had Emily Duggan on the podcast, V8 Supercar Racer. Emily made her racing debut in 2014 as the first female driver in Series X3 and her name has been prominent since then, winning at the second race meeting and successfully claiming 26 podium finishes in the category. Since then Emily’s career has continued to flourish, competing in the Toyota 86 series, Supercars Super3 series and being mentored by Paul Morris who labelled her the hardest- working driver in pit lane due to working on her own car mechanically.

We spoke about how the pandemic has actually been a blessing in disguise for Emily, as she was forced to recover from burnout and take the time to heal, relax, and live a slower paced life, as opposed to driving at 150+km per hour on the race track!

You can grab the link to the suggested meditative practice Emily mentioned in my blog post about mediation.

As well as you can find out how the “flame” ignited in her to pursue this career path, as well as the reason behind why she pumps Christina Aguleria in her car rides by listening to her podcast.

Off the track Emily’s success has been recognised with nominations of Sports Women of The Year and New Talent of The Year in 2019 through women in sports awards. Emily is a proud ambassador for women in sport and actively encourages school girls to dream big with her work with Dare to be Different, an event program aimed at primary school girls.

Emily’s dream has never been to be the first girl, just the first over the finish line. In the history of Australian racing there hasn’t been a female driver to win a Supercar race. This is the next achievement Emily is working towards to change. Emily can be reached on her website.

Topics covered: racing, women in sports, sports women, burnout, social media, self-care, dreams, aspirations

I asked this next guest to come on to help educate others on the benefits of Ceremonial Cacao, her name is Amanda Lee. She considers herself a Women’s Mentor and Ceremonialist. Earlier in 2020 I did a research piece on the benefits of food medicine and I thought why not have the person who I source mine from on as a guest to allow more people to learn about its benefits. You can take a read about it here

During the episode, I felt really grounded and our discussions surrounding plant medicine and holistic health epitomised how there are so many journey’s people can go on, on their quest of discovery however it still lies in the realms of holistic health.

The link is below for those interested in purchasing the book Amanda mentioned.

To find out what unfolded, tune into this week's episode.

Topics covered: ceremonial cacao, holistic health, food medicine, healing, discovery, ritual, ceremony, grief, self-love.

February 24, 2021

For a second guest this person was exceptional and boy was she both eloquent in her explanations as she was (and is) intelligent!!

Spoonful of Sarah / Sarah (Holloway) Davidson is a Lawyer Turned Funtreprenuer and like many other guests I will have on, I was first introduced via one of the challenges I partook in through Body By Finch, which she was an expert guest on. Anddd the rest is history!!

Sarah is the one and only who brought MATCHA into the mainstream markets of Australia where it was neither easily accessible nor recognised, naming it Matcha Maiden. Then went onto launching a Melbourne cafe dedicated to all things Matcha (Mylkbar). Not to mention has a Spoonful of Sarah forum, is an Author, has a Seize the Yay podcast and merchandise owner which includes: flipbooks; t-shirts and necklaces!!

Since our introduction I had purchased her book and I seriously felt like I was following her life events in symmetry, where her “sliding doors” moments were in fact occurring to me. Not to mention whilst reading I decided to bring this passion project up a notch plus continue to educate myself through this forum which is now called Unearthing Wellbeing.

Sarah’s humility is emphasised in spades during this podcast whereby she shares anecdotes, advice, and a giggle with me. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to have her on and I hope you enjoy this episode.

If you would like to purchase any of her merchandise including her book Seize The Yay the link is here

Hello and Welcome to Unearthing Wellbeing with me, Ask Elizabeth; Where Our Greatest Wealth Is Health.

These episodes were recorded shortly after COVID-19 lockdown eased in Melbourne, thus, the discussions surrounding the whirlwind experience were mentioned.

WOWEEE! I was very fortunate to have Lola Berry as my first ever guest on my podcast. She is so down to earth, modest, cheerful and made me feel so relaxed despite my nerves prior to recording my first ever episode with a guest.

For those of you who do not know of Lola, she is a Nutritionist, yogi teacher, author, founder of Lola Coffee, podcast of Fearlessly Failing and is currently in acting school! As you will hear she lives and breathes holistic health and has relocated to the shores of Byron Bay for a more laid back lax approach to life.

We spoke about so many topics including the art of saying no and putting our needs first otherwise we are of no service to others nor ourselves!!! This was prevalent in many of our conversations surrounding food, health, wellbeing and socialising.

Lola’s amazing podcasts can be heard here!

For all the coffee lovers out there, Lola Coffee is for you! You can purchase Lola’s coffee here!

Ask Elizabeth brings Unearthing Wellbeing to the podcast world.

This first episode I give some insight into who I am and what the podcast is all about. My good friend Brigitte Hakim who is equal parts smart as she is beautiful, and was there from the birth of this baby, interviewed me as the first few takes with me solo were just too cringe! And what better way to come full circle.

The questions we go through are some I ask my guests in future episodes, whilst you find out a little about me too, and when the sliding doors moment occurred that has led me to where I am now. So I hope you enjoy!
